There are two parts to using hypnosis to lose weight permanently. The first step is to do what weight loss hypnosis is known for: reprogramming your brain to make it easy to stick to your eating goals. Recent brain scans at Stanford University show that hypnosis can do this by firing up the parts of your brain where you plan things, make decisions, and carry out routines. So in situations where you would ordinarily cheat or eat unhealthily, you’ll automatically make a better decision. You can be hypnotized to eliminate  cravings, control your portions, eat less in  social situations, or break free of eating out of stress or because of  difficult emotions. You can even hypnotize  yourself to eat any food you crave, but in amounts that will continue to help you lose weight or keep it off.

But there’s a second step I provide that most other hypnosis practitioners never get to; this step is the key to losing the weight permanently instead of gaining it back when you’re stressed or busy or just happen to decide you need a vacation from paying attention to how much and what you eat.

This second step is to discover  and  reprogram the software in your brain that wants to keep you overweight. As strange as it may sound, this part of your brain thinks it’s helping you. We all have secret, subconscious reasons that we may not be aware of, to keep our weight the way it is. Sometimes the weight is our subconscious way of remaining connected to a specific person. (For me it was my ex-wife.) Other times it’s a way of protecting ourselves from old, unprocessed emotions from difficult experiences in our past that we are afraid to allow to briefly show up so we can let go of them.  Fortunately, there are simple hypnotic techniques we can use to release these emotions in a way that’s easy to do and that’s comfortable, not scary, so we don’t have to hide from these emotions any more.

Once we work with these emotions, attachments and beliefs, it becomes significantly easier to eat the right foods in the right amount for our bodies. We can eat the way that’s best for us in the long-term. We stop sabotaging our weight loss plan and we finally lose the weight.

Or as I like to say, “Change your mind and your mouth will follow!”

No matter what your overeating issues are, hypnosis can help you correct them in the way that works best for you. (You can even rehearse eating the right amount in situations that would normally cause you to overeat.)
